When we arrived at our destination it was like an epiphany. It was exactly how I would wish my villa to be.
It was like an impressionist painting of the perfect summer scene. The children were in the pool before the last suitcase was out of the car.
Ripe figs hung from groaning branches in the gardens and, down a small bank, a bright little river twinkled with fish, damsel flies and kingfishers.
I lost myself to hours of happy pursuit of the roach that cruised the shallows with an extremely primitive fishing rod.
Inside the villa is even better - invitingly designed, it's perfect for entertaining and cooking.
A Terrace overlooking the pool provides an entirely separate kitchen for alfresco eating. We barely leave the spot, except for forays to local markets to buy local fish, herb encrusted legs of lamb and sun drenched vegetablesMH - LONDON - ENGLAND
